Beam wire scanners are installed in the injector linac and beam transport lines at KEK electron/positron accelerator complex. A group of four wire scanners are utilized to measure the transverse beam profiles and the Twiss parameters. For now Five groups are installed along the beam lines. VME IOC controls and monitors stepper motors, high-voltage power supplies, photo-multipliers, etc. through CAMAC and GPIB interfaces. Several wire scanners will be additionally installed for SuperKEKB. At the same time the control architecture would be rejuvenated with event-based synchronized measurements and controls. A rejuvenation plan was proposed by K.F, and it was implemented by Anindya Roy from VECC, India with help from N.Iida, T.Nakamura, A.Akiyama, T.Okazaki. Please send your comments and questions to K.Furukawa. |
The KEK 8-GeV LINAC injects electron and positron beams with different characteristics into four storage rings: KEKB high-energy ring (HER), KEKB low-energy ring (LER), Photon Factory (PF) and PF- AR. The wire scanners are used to monitor beam profile non-destructively along the beam line. A data acquisition system, synchronized with LINAC timing system, is developed to acquire multiple beam mode data simultaneously. The data acquisition time and quality are optimized in this system by implementing a multispeed wire movement. The system is installed in LINAC beam line and tested successfully. This presentation will describe the system.
