Title :
USE OF CHANNELING RADIATION AND RELATED CRYSTAL EFFECTS
FOR A NEW POSITRON SOURCE
Abstract :
Since some years, parallel efforts are developed in
Europe and Japan on a new kind of positron source using a crystal
target, in channeling conditions. This target exhibits some
specific features, which will be described before giving the first
results of an experiment operated recently at CERN.

Titles :
(1) DIAGNOSTICS TOOLS for SMALL-SIZE BEAMS
(2) ACCELERATOR R & D at LAL-ORSAY
Abstract :
(1) The problem of measuring and controlling small beam sizes (much
less than the mm) in linacs and transfer lines is particularly crucial
for the main linacs of a Linear Collider, where the 6-D emittance has to be
strongly reduced. The problem becomes more complicated when, as it is often
the case, the beam intensity considered is very large. Some invasive and
non invasive diagnostics, which could be of interest for such application,
will be presented and compared between them.
(2) Since many years the Accelerator group at LAL-Orsay is being
involved in the study and realization of small and medium energy
electron linacs or of some particular components of more larger linacs.
Some recent illustrations of this activity, related to electron injectors
and RF couplers, will be given.
